This Christmas season invites us to reflect on the timeless story that brings hope to the world—the birth of Jesus Christ.
In the familiar account from Luke 2, Mary and Joseph faced extraordinary challenges: a long, arduous journey to Bethlehem while Mary was heavily pregnant, no room at the inn, and giving birth in a humble stable. There was uncertainty, discomfort, and outright pain in their story. Yet, in the midst of it all, God was faithfully working out His greater purpose.
The angels announced to the shepherds:
“Glory to God in the highest heaven, and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” (Luke 2:14, NIV)
And centuries earlier, the prophet Isaiah foretold:
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given… And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6, NIV)
If this holiday season feels overwhelming, if you’re missing that deep sense of peace amid the busyness, struggles, or heartache—remember the Prince of Peace. Just as God brought profound purpose out of Joseph and Mary’s difficulties, He can bring hope and peace into ours. Turn to Him this Christmas; He is the true source of lasting peace that transcends our circumstances.
